2009 PYFA Draft...
The 2009 PYFA Draft took place on June 28th, at the Knights of Columbus. 3rd & 4th Grade Contact coaches will draft after the 6:00 meeting, followed by the 5th & 6th Grade Contact coaches.
Coaches should contact all players on the roster this week to inform everyone of which team they will be on and when they will pick up equipment.
Parents - Please be patient this week as not all coaches will be able to call everyone right away. Please be respectful to the coaches and know they will contact you as soon as they can. If you haven't heard from a coach by July 7th, please email us at swaffordjesse@gmail.com as Equipment Distribution will be that following weekend and everyone will need to know what time they are scheduled to be there.
If anyone has any questions regarding the draft, please contact Brandon Hartzell.
Equipment Distribution...
5.4.09 - Anyone playing on a contact team will need to attend the equipment distribution day assigned to their team. Everyone will receive a call the first week of July, after the League Draft to be notified of their team. Equipment distribution must be attended by all players so that proper equipment may be fit onto the player so we may order any necessary equipment to get everyone into pads as soon as possible. If you have your own pads and plan on wearing them, please do not get fit for anything that you may not need. Sizes are limited so we'll need everything we can to fit the expanding contact league. Distribution times are as follows...
Saturday - July 11th - PYFA Equipment Building
1:00 - 49ers/Packers
2:00 - Eagles/Colts
3:00 - Cowboys/Titans
Sunday - July 12th - PYFA Equipment Building
1:00 - Browns/Patriots
2:00 - Falcons/Jaguars
3:00 - Giants/Cardinals
We understand that everyone wants to make this go as quickly as possible so we ask that only players enter the building and move along quickly to each station. We don't have a lot of space so we ask that parents please stay outside of the building to wait on the players.
We also ask that you do not plan on getting fit before your team's time. If you have an emergency situation we will fit you on a case by case basis. To set something up you must email us to schedule a date/time by contacting equipment manager Jesse Swafford via email at swaffordjesse@gmail.com.

League Changes...
The 2009 season is the dawn of a new era in the Piqua Youth Football Association. Beginning this season, we will offer 3rd & 4th Grade Contact as well as 5th & 6th Grade Contact. 1st & 2nd Graders will play in a Flag League.
The Flag League will consist of 6 sponsored teams and will focus on the fundamentals of the game. If your company is interested in becoming a sponsor, please contact Tom Mason for more information.
The 3rd & 4th Grade/5th & 6th Grade Contact Leagues will consist of an "A" (5th & 6th Grade) and "B" (3rd & 4th Grade) squads. Team pairings are as follows...
Falcons/Jaguars
Giants/Cardinals
Browns/Patriots
Eagles/Colts
49ers/Packers
Cowboys/Titans
The "B" team will evolve into the "A" team in the coming seasons so that players learn the same fundamentals during the 4 year contact league span. Teams will be allowed to condition and walk through plays together but no hitting drills will be permitted between the two teams. A 15 man "A" roster must be submitted prior to the first game of the season. A 4th Grader will be allowed to play on the "A" squad with the parents permission. If you have questions regarding the league changes, please email them to swaffordjesse@gmail.com.
