The 49ers defeated the Giants by a final of 54-0 in a game that ended after three quarters. Conner Forror, Xavier Harrison, Max Schutt, Aaron Shroyer and Caje Weigant all scored for the 49ers while Jacob Teague blocked a punt and executed a scoop and score for another Niners touchdown.
The Browns clinched the #2 seed by beating the Eagles 20-6. Austin Reedy scored for the Browns.
The Cardinals and Packers met in the first game of the day in Flag action. Both teams entered the game with 4-0 records and put on a show for the fans. The Packers jumped out to a 14-6 lead at the half with touchdowns from Rupert DelaCruz and Jack Schmeising. However, the Cardinals added a fourth quarter touchdown for the 18-14 victory. Scoring for the 5-0 Cardinals was Andrew Lee twice and Isaiah Garber.

Sunday School
No, not the kind where you learn the Ten Commandments…this Sunday school is teaching the next generation of Piqua football talent the rudiments of the game.
Story and Photos courtesy of Sonny Fulks/1570wptw.com

Just for grins, I wheeled into the Pitsenbarger Complex on a recent Sunday, off McKinley Avenue in Piqua, to watch a friend’s son play Pee-Wee football on a Sunday afternoon.
Grins? It was all about grins…to see 5th and 6th grade boys have that much fun playing football. It is competitive, but most importantly, it’s fun. And with the physical limitations that come with kids that age, it’s safe and relatively injury free. Occasionally someone jams a finger or gets kicked in the shin.
What’s more…the kids who play are being taught some good techniques about the game of football.
“Oh yeah,” says Piqua high school coach Bill Nees. “This is a great experience. They’re even teaching some of the things we use at the high school as a foundation for the future. It's competitive and I think it's a good thing for the future of Piqua football. ”
Nees’ son Alex plays on one of the six contact teams in the Piqua Youth Football Association League, so Dad is a very interested onlooker.
The PYFA also features six non-contact teams that play flag football for the younger kids. There’s no helmets and pads for the little guys, but they have no less fun and the games are just as competitive.
They even have cheerleaders…PYFA endorsed, of course. They cheer just like the big girls, even though the Friday night spirit thing hasn’t quite kicked in yet. I heard one complain that she was hot and tired…and wanted to go home. I couldn’t blame her. On that particular day it was about 90 degrees.
The sound system’s kind of scratchy, but the girls perform halftime routines that are well choreographed, and they do their schtick with all the enthusiasm and pride of their high school counterparts.
Yesterday, the 49ers beat the Falcons 20-13 in a game that wasn’t decided until the last three minutes. And while the kids on the Falcons were frustrated and disappointed with losing, that lasted about as long as it took swig down a cold Gatorade and enjoy a snack. Most of them were going home to watch…you guessed it…more football.
It may be Sunday, but this school of hard knocks and a boy’s love of football lasts all week long. If you’re lucky…it lasts a lifetime!

Week 4 Highlights (September 30-October 1, 2007)...
The Eagles picked up their first win of the season as they shutout the winless Giants by a score of 14-0. AJ Epley started things off with a 26 yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Quarterback Jacob Sowry bulled his way in from five yards out to increase the lead. The Eagles defense stuffed the Giants in their own end zone in the final minutes for a safety to close the scoring.
The 49ers used a strong performance from the entire team to knock the Falcons from the ranks of the unbeatens. Tate Honeycutt returned a punt 60 yards for the first score of the game to put the Falcons in front 7-0. Niners QB Conner Forror hooked up with his favorite target, Aaron Shroyer for a 10 yard touchdown and again on the extra point to make it 8-7 at the half. T.J. Michael ripped off a 30 yard touchdown run to give the Falcons the lead once again before Forror put the nail in the coffin in the fourth quarter. He snuck into the end zone from one yard out before finding Jacob Teague, who made an amazing catch in the end zone.
The Cowboys defeated the Browns by a final of 12-0. Devin Hartzell threw a perfect pass to Aidan Grantham from 15 yards out before Ryan Hughes raced down the sideline on his way to the final touchdown of the game.
In flag action the Colts beat the Jaguars by a score of 24-0. Wade Wenrick scored three touchdowns on the day and Andrew Bolin added the final score for the Colts.
The Packers remained unbeaten as they scored two second half touchdowns to defeat the Titans, 12-0. Jack Schmeesing and Stephen Monnin scored for the 4-0 Packers.
The Cardinals and Patriots provided a treat for everyone in attendance as they battled until the final whistle. Allen Scheer-Schrubb's third touchdown run of the day tied the game at 20-20 in the fourth quarter. Andrew Lee scored in the second quarter for the Cardinals but the play of the day belonged to Cardinals running back Logan Rodrigues as he scored his third touchdown of the afternoon with no time left from 51 yards out to help keep the Cards remain undefeated with the 26-20 victory.
Week 3 Highlights (September 23-24, 2007)...
The Monday night showdown between the Browns and Niners saw the Browns survive with a 15-12 victory to improve 2-1, while the Niners fall to 1-2. Austin Reedy scored twice for the winners. Xavier Harrison turned in a solid performance for the Niners despite the loss. Harrison returned a kickoff for a touchdown and found the end zone on a run on the offensive side of the ball as well. The Browns defense dodged a bullet late in the fourth quarter before stopping the Niners and being able to run out the clock.
The Cowboys rode the strong right arm of quarterback Devin Hartzell to a 15-0 victory over the Eagles, who drop to 0-3 on the season. Hartzell and Aidan Grantham connected on two 25 yard touchdown passes.
The Falcons were carried by the legs of Tate Honeycutt as he scored all three Falcon touchdowns in an 18-0 defeat of the Giants (0-3).
The Titans, Cardinals and Packers all recorded wins on Sunday in Flag Football action.
Titans running back JJ Rohrbach scored three touchdowns as the team picked up their first win of the season. The Jaguars lone TD came courtesy of Noah Lyman to make the final score of 20-6.
The Cardinals beat the Colts by a score of 36-6. Logan Rodrigues and Andrew Lee scored for the undefeated Cardinals.
The Packers also remained unbeaten as they won 14-12 over the Patriots. Stephen Monnin scored two first half touchdowns for the Packers while Allen Scheer-Schrubb scored twice for the Patriots.
Week 2 Highlights (September 16-17, 2007)...
The second week of PYFA action came to an end on Monday night as the Falcons beat the Eagles by a final of 25-7. Tate Honeycutt had a hand in all four Falcons touchdowns. He scored from 25 and 15 yards out in the first half before Jacob Sowery cut the lead in half early in the 4th quarter with a 45 yard touchdown run.
Honeycutt put his speed on display as he returned a kickoff 60 yards for a score and then connected with Noah Gertner on a 41 yard touchdown pass to close the scoring.
The Cowboys rode the legs of Ryan Hughes as they defeated the 49ers, 18-6. The Niners jumped out to an early 6-0 lead when Conner Forror connected with Aaron Shroyer for a 60 yard touchdown. Hughes answered with a touchdown run of his own and on the ensuing possession, scored with no time remaining in the half. He would add a third touchdown in the second half to wrap things up.
The Browns shut out the Giants by a final of 43-0. Austin Reedy, Clayton Brown, Austin Sims and Kyle Smith all found the end zone for the winners.
In Flag action, the Cardinals improved to 2-0 with a 12-0 victory over the Titans.
The Packers held off the Jaguars by a final of 18-12.
The Colts were a touchdown better than the Patriots, winning 18-12.
Week 1 Highlights (September 9-10, 2007)...
The Cowboys beat the Giants in the first Monday Night game of the season by a score of 34-0. Devin Hartzell ran wild on the Giants defense as he ran for four touchdowns (41, 30, 12, 2). Levi Hess also found the end zone for the Cowboys on a 15 yard run. Anthony Olden played a great game for the Giants as he was in on many tackles and ran the ball well all night long.
The 49ers opened the season with a 36-0 defeat of the Eagles. Niners quarterback Conner Forror had a big day. He connected with Aaron Shroyer on a 70 yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and a 25 yarder in the second. Forror then weaved in and out of traffic on his way to pay dirt from 31 yards out in the third. Jacob Teague scored on a 17 yard touchdown run and Alex Nees closed the scoring with a 2 yard scamper. The Niners were led on defense by Jacob Teague. He intercepted two passes and Corbin Meckstroth added another as the Niners wrapped up the shutout.
The Falcons jumped out to an early 12-0 lead on the Browns on a pair of touchdown runs by quarterback Tate Honeycutt (10 and 53 yards). However on the opening kickoff of the second half, Austin Reedy would not be denied as he rumbled 70 yards for the score to make it 12-7 after the extra point. The Browns rode the legs of Reedy to a 13-12 lead early in the 4th quarter as he scored from 10 yards out, as he broke several tackles and stretched for the end zone. The Falcons had one more big play left in the playbook. T.J. Michael went off the left tackle and outran everyone to the end zone from 63 yards out to put the Falcons ahead for good.
The Packers defeated the Colts by a score of 22-6.
The Patriots defeated the Titans by a score of 20-6.
